Movie review : Theeyavar Kulai Nadunga

A senior cop Magudapathy ( Arjun Sarja)  gets involved in the death of a middle aged man, a case, whose clues  lead him to another death- that of  girl child, found dead in an apartment block. 

Upon investigation he meets Meera (Aishwarya Rajesh) who was the teacher of that special child and her mother Geetha (Abhirami Venkatachalam) and Aadhi ( Praveen Raj) who is Meera's boyfriend and lived in the same building as the murder.

As the investigation deepens, more deaths occur, and clues emerge which point in a certain direction.




Who is the killer? And why was the child killed? Does Magudapathy get to the truth in time?

The film highlights well the vulnerabilities of kids and how adults fail many a time in their responsibilities towards their safety. How even Meera, a trained professional, overlooks the signs of distress the child gives out,   is an eye opener and the film deserves kudos for highlighting such an issue, that both caregivers and parents need to be more vigilant.

Aishwarya Rajesh delivers a solid performance yet again, and  convincingly carries out the stunt scenes as well.  

Arjun as the cop is impressive as usua, bringing a gravitas to his role, with his expressions and body language. 

Praveen Raj, Ram Kumar Ganesan and others are aptly chosen.

The way the suspense is built up,  and the tension felt right till the end, works well for the film. 

The locations and settings are captured well,  visuals are good and the bgm doesnt overpower the proceedings.

However, some portions do seem lengthy, creating a lag when songs are added in places for instances.

It does seem odd how in such a huge apartment complex, not one other person sees anything related to the crime.  There are no inhabutants shown other than the people in the story. There are other lacunae in the modus operandi of the killer, which cant really be discussed without spoilers.

Overall however, the film is a watchable thriller with an emotional connect and a message.

Film Review: 7G The Dark Story

 Varsha ( Smruthi Venkat) and her husband Rajiv move into their own new flat numbered 7 G, with their son. At the house warming party, Rajiv's ex girlfriend Nisha does a witchcraft on their son Rahul and the family because she wants Rajiv back in her life.  Soon some eerie events create havoc in the happy family.  One day,  the truth behind the happenings is revealed.
