Movie Review: Couple Friendly

 Mithra ( Manasa Varanasi ) and Shiva (Santhosh Soban) both come to Chennai  oin search of professional prospects. Quite by chance, they happen to meet one day and due to a series of circumstances, begin to share common lodgings to save money and continue their search for better prospects.





Soon, they discover a mutual respect for each other.  Mithra  helps Shiva in his work, with important suggestions and thanks to her help he lands several projects and his business as an interior designer takes off. 

Love blossoms between the duo decide to tie the knot soon. But the road is far from smooth, as neither of their parents know about their love nor live-in status. Another complication also develops.

What happens next? Do their parents accept their choices? What is the even more serious complication that comes as a roadblock to their love? 

The film is a refreshingly narrated tale, the highlights being  not just a fresh pairing and their realistic performance, but also an interesting storyline, suspenseful screenplay,  well written  characters and situations and minimum dialogues, conveying more with expressions and situations.  The film manages to convey its messages in a subtle yet impactful manner, with. The unpredictable little twists along the way leading up to an touching climax, add value.

New Age relationships, ego tussles, caste issues, parents vs children relationships, the film dwells on it all. The struggles faced by youth finding a job,  are relatable. The slow blossoming of the love is shown in a mature and realistic manner.

Manasaa with her unaffected natural acting and Santhosh Soban's realistic act, along with  their  fantastic screen chemistry, make the film more likeable.

The cinematography is a major highlight of the film,  especially the scenes showcasing Chennai and Kerala. Locations too are well chosen.

However, the emotional highs and heaviness of the second half comes as a shocker can be a tad too much to adjust to for the viewer. 

Overall, a refreshing, engaging and entertaining  film

Movie Review: Mahasena

 Sengottavan ( Vemal ) and his wife Bommi ( Shrusti Dange) live in a mountain village and are leaders of the people. Sengottavan has an enemy in the tribal leader Ganga ( Mahina Ghupta) who was once his lover at a young age, but the duo were separated due to a village feud with a statue at the centre of it all. Now,  Ganga is baying for his blood and wants to kill Sengottavan and get back the village deity as well. In the mix is a corrupt cop (John Vijay) who also wants the statue. But he is working in cahoots with the tycoon King Of God ( Kabir Duhan Singh) who cruelly tortures the villagers and steals the statue with the help of the cops. What happens next? Movie Review : Parasakthi

 Director Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi hit screens on 10th January. The film is based on the TN students anti Hindi imposition movement in the 1960s. The story revolves around a student, Chezhiyan (Sivakarthikeyan) who starts an agitation against Hindi imposition along with co-students, on one dark night on the railway tracks.
