Actor Selvaraghavan’s ‘Manithan Deivamagalam’ features an ensemble star-cast including Kowsalya, Y. Gee. Mahendran, Mime Gopi, Kushee Ravi and many others. The film is directed by Dennis Manjunath and is produced by R.S. Sathish, who appears as an actor as well. The film’s music is composed by A.K. Priyan. The audio launch of this film was held recently in Chennai that was graced by the eminent personalities of the industry.
Here are some of the excerpts from the event.
Director Selvaraghavan said: “Firstly, I would like to speak about Sakthi Film Factory. I have always admired watching the movie. His production house is too choosy about the scripts, but the efforts to materialise it with the grand production value, thereby facilitating a proper reach for the audiences is something phenomenal. I feel lucky to be a part of the film produced by this prestigious banner.
When I agreed to work on this project, and started shooting, I felt something really impressive. Everyone on the sets were so hardworking and kept doing their works without any breaks. Sometimes, I start wondering when are they resting and having their lunch. Such was their intense and amazing workmanship. I am sure, Dennis will significantly reap the best harvest for his dedication.
When I started working on this project, I wasn’t personally familiar with the producer RS Sathish. But as I got to know him later, I realized the kind of immense support he has given to this film. He stood by us completely and played a huge role in helping us bring this project to life successfully. I would like to sincerely thank him for that.
After listening to few lines from the song, I was intrigued to ask who the composer is. Beyond the unique musical composing, the quality was so proficient. He has delivered wonderful music for this film, and I would like to appreciate him for that.
Likewise, all the technicians who worked on this film have contributed in the best possible way. My heartfelt thanks to each and every one of them. Kousalya ma’am is even more calm and gentle in person than how she appears on screen. It was truly a lovely experience working with her. In contrast, te opposite side is Khushi, wherever she is, the place instantly feels lively and joyful. That kind of positive energy is a blessing, and you can clearly see that energy reflected in this film as well. Overall, this is a wonderful team. I sincerely wish that this group reaches even greater heights. Thank you.”
*Actor-producer RS.Sathish said*: “Initially, I had planned to speak about many things, but the song that Priyan mentioned made me a bit emotional. Whenever I listen to that song, it reminds me of my mother, who is no more with me. She was the purest soul, who wanted to see me as an actor right from my childhood. She carried this dream for a myriad of years. Deep down my heart, I too always had the desire to earn a good place in cinema. But commitments and responsibilities in the corporate life refrained me from doing it, but the passion remained unfaded. As the famous proverb goes, what we desire with heart and soul will come true someday, and I am glad that it has happened now. . That’s exactly how this opportunity came to me. At one point, I decided to pursue this full-time and stepped into this journey.
I’m reminded of something Superstar Rajinikanth once said in an interview: if we truly desire something, and when the right time and the right people come together, with sincere effort, we can definitely achieve it. Those words have come true in my journey.
Speaking about this film, I must first mention Dennis Manjunath. He is like a brother to me. Both of us share a bonding beyond 15 years. Through him, I got to know Deepak, Ravi, and Sidhu. Our early days of working together in short films have shaped this moment today. The person who gave me my first opportunity in cinema is Sasikumar sir. I acted in a small role in Kidaari, and I will always remember that opportunity with gratitude.
This film’s story was developed nearly two years ago. It is based on a true incident. When we researched it further, we discovered that similar incidents had happened in many places. That really surprised us. So we decided to approach this story with great responsibility and tell it in the right way.
At that point, we decided to take this story to Selva sir. We had made up our minds that we would proceed with this film only if he agreed. His single word His instant positive affirmation towards this film is the reason behind the film is materialized today.
Once he came on board, we felt an even greater responsibility to elevate the quality of this film. We didn’t take anything lightly and worked on every aspect with great care. We shot in real locations, including Salem, and made strong technical efforts to ensure authenticity.Khushi Ravi has delivered a highly commendable performance. Despite the language barrier, she has performed with great emotional depth. She definitely has a bright future in Tamil cinema.
Kousalya ma’am completely transformed herself for this role. In a de-glam look, she has beautifully brought out the realism required for the character. Mime Gopi sir’s performance fits this role perfectly. It is hard to even imagine this character without him. It was an honor for us that a senior artist like Y.Gee. Mahendran sir worked with this young team so humbly.
Every day I worked with Selva sir was a learning experience. His experience has further elevated the quality of this film. Why should this film be watched in theatres? Because it is based on a true incident. It realistically portrays village life, human relationships, and emotions. The cinematography, editing, and background score have all enhanced the storytelling.
This is a film that can be watched with family. I sincerely request everyone to come to theatres with your families and support it. I also extend my gratitude to all the producers, technicians, and friends who stood by us throughout this journey. Once again, I request all of you to help take this film to the people. Thank you.”
*Actress Kousalya said*: “I feel extremely happy and also a sense of pride to be speaking on this stage today. Every person here is important, and your presence has truly moved me. First, I would like to express my sincere thanks to director Dennis sir. Thank you for creating such a beautiful and strong character for me in this film. I chose to be a part of this project because I believed in its intensity and emotional depth. Next, my heartfelt thanks to the producers, Satish sir and Vijaya ma’am. It is because of your planning, discipline, and dedication that this film has been completed so well. I strongly believe that if we have more producers like you, Tamil cinema will reach even greater heights.
Selva sir, acting alongside you is not an easy thing. But the comfort and support you gave made everything feel so natural. Thank you so much for that. Khushee, coming all the way from Bengaluru and dedicating yourself fully to this film is truly commendable. My heartfelt appreciation for your hard work.
Presenting something grand in a beautiful way is easy, but presenting something simple in a beautiful way is the real challenge. Our cinematographer Ravi Varma K has done that exceptionally well. My sincere thanks to him. I met music composer A.K. Priyan in person only today. I was told this is his first film, but the songs are so impressive that you wouldn’t feel that at all. After a long time, I found myself dancing, and it was because of his music. Thank you for giving us such melodious compositions.
Finally, my best wishes to our entire team. This film is releasing on April 10, and it is a wonderful movie that can be enjoyed by the whole family. I sincerely request everyone to watch it and support us. Thank you.”
*Actress Kushee Ravi said*: “I’ve brought a few notes with me so that I don’t miss out on anything important. Please forgive me if I make any mistakes. I am extremely happy that “Manithan Deivamagalam” is my first Tamil film. I truly hope that everyone will watch and appreciate this film. It is a beautiful movie that can be enjoyed by the whole family.
First, my sincere thanks to Selvaraghavan sir. I would also like to thank director Dennis for bringing out my performance so well in this film. My heartfelt gratitude to my producers, RS Sathish sir and Vijaya ma’am. I also thank all my co-actors who worked alongside me. My sincere thanks to every technician and crew member who worked hard for this film. Special wishes to music composer Priyan, the music has come out wonderfully. Finally, I request everyone to watch this film in theatres and support us.”
*Producer Kathiresan said*: “My heartfelt thanks to producer Vijaya Sathish and her husband Sathish, who are the main reason for organizing such a grand stage and bringing together so many prominent personalities from the film industry. On behalf of the Producers’ Council, I would like to express my gratitude. I must say, it is truly commendable that Vijaya Sathish appreciated her director on stage itself, even before the release. This shows the quality and output of film. When the relationship between a producer and a director is strong, it reflects in the quality and success of the film. In fact, I would compare this relationship to that of a husband and wife, when both work in harmony, a great creation is born.
In today’s scenario, the number of producers is gradually decreasing. At the same time, it is the small-budget films that are achieving significant success. Films made within a budget of ₹5 to ₹15 crores are performing very well, and that is something noteworthy. In this context, I would like to appreciate director Dennis Manjunath for collaborating effectively with the production team and delivering this film with sincerity. If he continues with this same dedication, I am sure he will achieve many more successes.
The music by A.K. Priyan is excellent. Songs like ‘Thanga Rathiname’ and ‘Kalangadhe Raasa’ beautifully bring out family emotions. Lyricist Vignesh has also done a wonderful job in capturing emotional depth and familial bonds through his lyrics. This film has shaped up as a complete family drama. It revolves around relationships and emotions, and I strongly believe it will connect well with the audience. Selvaraghavan’s character is very strong within a family backdrop, and Gowri Kishan has delivered a very natural performance. It has been a long time since we have seen a film with such strong family emotions. I sincerely wish this film becomes a big success. Thank you.”
*Producer Kamala Kannan* said: “‘Manithan Deivamagalam’, a human can indeed become divine. But how? For a producer, the real God is the audience. When people go to theatres, watch a film, and make it a success, the producer feels that it is the audience who saved him. That is why everyone must go to theatres and watch films. Watching films on mobile phones cannot give the complete experience. Only when you watch a film in theatres do you truly experience it. When audiences come to theatres, the film becomes a success, and the producer proudly says, ‘It is the audience who saved me.’ Journalists also play a very important role in a film’s success. Through news and promotions, they take the film to the people. So after the audience, even journalists can be considered as ‘God.’ The actors and young talents here are highly commendable. The songs are beautiful, the music is excellent, and the director has done a great job. Overall, this team has delivered a sincere effort. I strongly believe this film will be a success. With God’s blessings, I extend my wishes to the team. It is also an honor to see senior artists here on stage. Moreover, Selvaraghavan’s presence in this film adds great strength to its success. Finally, if you want to ‘save’ this producer, please go to theatres and watch the film. Do not watch it on mobile phones, watch it in theatres and make this film a success. Thank you.”
*Producer & Distributor Dhananjayan said*: “First of all, my heartfelt congratulations to producer and actor RS Sathish. It is noteworthy that the producer of this film comes from a corporate background. Having worked for 25–30 years in the corporate sector and then stepping into cinema clearly reflects his passion and determination. It is also special for me personally, as he later joined the same Airtel company where I had worked. I still remember the moment he came up to me and said, ‘You are my senior’, it was truly a happy moment.
Using his corporate experience, he has planned and executed this film in a very structured manner, within the right budget and within a defined timeline. This is highly commendable. My congratulations to director Dennis as well; he has done a wonderful job.
The songs of this film are full of energy. Music composer Priyan has delivered quality music, especially by introducing fresh voices and new lyricists. We could feel that energy even during the live performance, and I’m sure it will connect with audiences on screen as well. These songs will definitely be a major strength for the film. Director Dennis has brought together a strong team. The entire crew has worked collectively to deliver a solid effort. I sincerely wish this film becomes a big success.
It was a pleasure to see the cast. Experienced artists like Y.G. Mahendran, Mime Gopi, and Kowsalya add great strength to the film. It was especially nice to see Kowsalya ma’am on stage after a long time. Actress Kushee Ravi, who impressed everyone with her performance in the recent Kannada film Neethi, is making her Tamil debut through this film. I believe her entry into Tamil cinema will be successful.
It is also a matter of pride that director Selvaraghavan, who has given many important films to Tamil cinema, is playing the lead role in this film. He is now actively focusing on acting as well, and we continue to see him in many good films. We can certainly expect more significant contributions from him in the future. RS Sathish’s effort here is very important. In today’s Tamil cinema, films either become huge successes or get completely rejected. With many films releasing every week, it is essential that at least some films receive audience support, only then can the industry continue to grow.
I am confident that ‘Manithan Deivamagalam’ will receive a good response. For such quality films to reach the people, the support of media and journalists is very important. My congratulations to producer Vijaya Sathish as well. Even though this is her first film, she has taken this step with great confidence. It is truly appreciable that this film has been presented as a family effort.
I wish RS Sathish great success in his journey as both an actor and a producer. Thank you.”
*Shakti Film Factory Sakthivelan* said: “This press meet for ‘Manithan Deivamagalam’ felt very different from a usual audio launch or press meet. It was more like a family celebration. From school students to elders, everyone participated with a sense of belonging, which clearly reflects the unity and sincerity of this team.
From the very beginning of this project, there has been a strong sense of enthusiasm and togetherness within the team. The rural backdrop in the film has been designed with great detail, and the fact that the entire film was shot naturally in real locations is commendable. The story, characters, and events flow very organically without feeling forced, and that is one of the film’s biggest strengths. Director Selvaraghavan, as always, has delivered a very natural performance as the lead. He is someone who leaves a mark even in small roles, and here, as a full-fledged protagonist, he has performed exceptionally well.
The overall viewing experience was very engaging. During the interval, I happened to speak with the producer and learned about his corporate background. At the same time, he has also taken up an important role in the film, which reflects his dedication. Mime Gopi has delivered a powerful performance as the antagonist. Though he is a very simple person in real life, his screen presence in negative roles is outstanding. This film even makes us want to see him as a hero in the future. Senior artists like Y. Gee. Mahendran add great strength to the film by supporting this young team. Khushee Ravi, who has already proven herself in Kannada cinema, has showcased her talent very well in her Tamil debut. It is also notable that Kowsalya is seen in an important role after a long time. Overall, this film stands out as a quality product filled with natural emotions. Even the action sequences are designed with realism. Every aspect has been handled properly, making it a complete film. This is my second collaboration with director Dennis Manjunath, and based on our previous experience, this film has turned out even better. My appreciation to Rekha ma’am as well for organising this event so well. I sincerely wish this film becomes a grand success. Thank you.”
*Y. Gee. Mahendran said*: “My greetings to everyone. My respects to all the artists on stage. Many have said this film will be a success, and I too strongly believe it will succeed. When director Dennis Manjunath narrated the story, it was very powerful. Often, stories sound strong during narration but lose impact on screen. However, after watching the trailer, I felt he has presented it even better than how he narrated it. My congratulations to him. This film is very important, especially for the producer and the entire team involved. The director has presented a natural story in a very authentic way. I believe the key twists and climax sequences will have a strong impact. Cinematographer Ravi Varma’s visuals are beautiful. Music composer A.K. Priyan’s work is very melodious. This is not just a typical rural score, it is melody-driven and reminds us of the finesse of classic music. The lyrics are also very meaningful and suit the story perfectly.
I have acted in a few important scenes in this film, and those moments will stay with the audience. My character is that of an honest politician, which is quite interesting in today’s context. Mime Gopi is a very talented actor, and it was a pleasure working with him. Even in a few seconds of the trailer, the essence of the village comes across strongly, which is a major strength of the film.
Stories where an individual stands up against society always connect well with audiences, and this film belongs to that category. Once again, my heartfelt wishes to the entire team. Special thanks to Priyan for giving my grandson an opportunity to sing, it gives me great happiness. It was also wonderful to see Kousalya on stage after a long time. Overall, this film feels like a part of a family. Everyone involved in this film truly deserves this success. Thank you.”
*Director Dennis Manjunath said*: “My heartfelt greetings to everyone present here. Many of the things I wanted to say have already been beautifully expressed by producer RS Sathish sir. So, I don’t want to miss out on mentioning anyone specifically — my sincere thanks to every single person who worked on this film. While writing this story, I kept thinking, usually a film has a hero and a villain. But in life, everything has an opposite: day and night, shadow and reality, joy and pain. I wanted to bring all these dimensions into one story.
For the role of the protagonist, I chose Selvaraghavan sir, and for the strong antagonist, Mime Gopi sir. When I narrated the story, he immediately said, ‘I will do anything for you.’ I am truly grateful for that trust and affection. I believe this role will be a new experience for him. Selvaraghavan sir has always been an inspiration for me. I am one among many who aspired to become a director after being inspired by him. Meeting him itself was once a dream, but today, working with him and sharing the same stage feels like a dream come true.
I hope I have lived up to the trust you placed in me, sir. I would like to share a small incident. We were shooting an important scene at night with a big setup. It got very cold, and sir’s health was slightly affected. At one point, we thought of stopping the shoot. But he didn’t want the flow of the scene to break or cause any inconvenience to the producer. After walking away for a bit, he came back and said, ‘Let’s finish this scene and then go.’ He completed the scene then and there. That moment taught me a lot about dedication and what it means to be a true artist.
Kushee Ravi ma’am immediately agreed to the film after hearing the story. This film speaks about a beautiful love story within a husband–wife relationship, showing that love continues even after marriage. Kousalya mam, Y. Gee. Mahendran sir, and all the actors have added great strength to this film with their experience. My thanks to everyone. Sakthivelan sir, who came forward to release this film, he is not just a producer to me, but like an elder brother. Thank you for trusting me after watching the film. I have given a lot of time, effort, and parts of my life to cinema. In return, I see this film as a big opportunity that cinema has given me. I strongly believe this film will give me even more. We are bringing this film to you on April 10. I hope all of you will watch it in theatres and support us. I also hope to personally thank each of you soon at the success meet. My heartfelt thanks to Vijaya ma’am and RS Sathish sir for believing in this story.”
*Music Composer A.K. Priyan* said: “Standing on a stage like this has been a long-time dream for me. I am here today to share that feeling. When I was in 10th standard, my school often complained to my parents that I was always involved in music, dance, and cultural activities instead of focusing on studies during board exams.
Usually, parents would insist on academics, but mine were different. They encouraged me, saying, ‘If you love music, pursue it fully, we will support you.’ That belief and support are the reason I am standing here today. I will always be grateful to my parents. I would also like to thank my team. Lyricist Vignesh Ramakrishna is not just a collaborator but a close friend and an important part of my journey. Lyricist Movie, my childhood friend, has been with me since the beginning, we both came into cinema with the same dream.
My thanks to all the singers and artists: Aravind Karnesh, S.P. Malaiyanna, Padmaja, and others , who contributed to this film’s music. I would also like to mention independent artist Aadi Krish. We plan to collaborate as a music duo in future projects. My special thanks to my brother Sidhu Kumar, who gave me this opportunity selflessly in a competitive space. You will definitely see great success from him in the future. Selvaraghavan sir has always been a role model for me, and working with him is a proud moment. My heartfelt thanks to director Dennis for trusting my talent and giving me this opportunity.”
*Mime Gopi said*: “That appreciation was truly beautiful. Even when it’s not necessary, appreciating others wholeheartedly and making them happy is a great quality, & that happiness is what matters to us.
In today’s world, people who appreciate others openly are becoming rare. Many speak behind others’ backs, but appreciating someone directly is a special quality. Working with such people is a blessing. Since this is lunchtime, I will keep it short. ‘Thank you’ is a beautiful word, and appreciation is equally important. Without appreciation, our efforts lose meaning. Even a single round of applause can uplift an artist and inspire them to do better. When we say ‘Well done’ or ‘That was excellent,’ it pushes artists to live up to those words. That motivation comes from appreciation. My heartfelt wishes to the producer. I am very grateful to Dhananjayan sir for his encouragement at a crucial time. My thanks to Kathiresan sir as well, his calm and composed nature is something to learn from.
Music composer A.K. Priyan is a sincere and talented youngster. His honesty reflects in his words, and I am confident he will reach great heights.
Cinematographer Ravi Varma has a unique visual style. His simplicity and ability to create beautiful visuals are commendable. My wishes to the stunt master, editor, and the entire technical team. Their dedication is truly admirable. Special appreciation to Sakthi sir for releasing this film. A distributor plays a key role in taking a good film to the audience, and his involvement adds great confidence.
Congratulations to producer Vijaya Sathish as well. It is wonderful to see a family coming together to present this film. Director Dennis’s effort and dedication are commendable. I also have great respect and affection for Selvaraghavan sir, he is not just a great artist but also a very genuine human being. Kushee Ravi, Kousalya, and all the actors have performed well. Kushee speaks Tamil beautifully and has a great future ahead. Kousalya ma’am’s graceful performance is an added strength.
Finally, if I have appeared well in this film, the credit goes entirely to the director. If there are any shortcomings, they are mine.
In the end, everything in this world looks beautiful based on our perspective. My thanks to everyone who gave me that beautiful perspective. My heartfelt wishes to all. Please watch this film in theatres and support it. Thank you.”
